So today is World Cerebral Palsy day- 6 October 2025
I believe there are always hope no matter what and that miracles ( every miracle big or small) do happen:
They whispered to the world:”She Will” – (I wrote this paying tribute to both my parents.)
Life has thrown its challenges “ smack bam” straight into my face even before birth.
The Doctor discovered I had no heartbeat so I was born prem ( 8 weeks to early)The umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck.
As time went by My parents raised their concerns with several doctors regarding my developmental stages, but unfortunately there were times they told my parents that they were exaggerating.
Eventually they were referred to a Neuro Surgeon. He gave my parents the shocking news: “ Your child has the slow death syndrome “
My parents walked a journey of uncertainty, stress, joy, sadness, negative comments from people who think they knew it all.
Throughout all this they stayed strong. The only option they had was to be strong, yes strong for me, themselves and our family, but most of all they experienced a journey of blessings, hope and miracles.
They experienced miracle upon miracle.
Both my parents are in Heaven today. The two most beautiful Angels in Heaven.
I want to thank them for believing. Even during the most difficult times there was a chance of me surviving no matter what.
They took me to physio sessions, Occupational sessions, Speech Therapy and Remedial sessions.
They were there for me after each operation I had to undergo to give me a better quality of life.
They were there when I started walking at the age of two and a half. Pure moments of joy for both them and me.
They were there when I had my grandmal seizures. By the Grace of God I was never alone each time I had my seizure ( experienced convulsions and being in a semi-coma). My parents stayed with me until I recovered.
I experienced severe headaches after each seizure and slept for 15 hours continuously as my body was just to tired after each seizure.
There were times that they were told there might be a chance that I might not be able to complete primary school, I might not be able to complete high school.
I was blessed to attend the best schools. They assisted me in every way they could helping me to improve my quality of education and life. Thanks to them and both my parents I managed to complete both primary and high school.
Every time my parents were told :
“ She won’t!!”
They decided to whisper to the world: “ She Will” !!!
So I did and I still can.
So blessed and thankful for my Super Strong parents who are now looking down upon me saying: “ You can!!!”
Remember there are always hope and Miracles do happen, no matter how difficult life is in the moment.
You can dream, believe and achieve.
