UN recognition of World Cerebral Palsy Day

50 million people with cerebral palsy deserve a place on the global agenda.
Today, World CP Day brings together more than 187 partner organisations and reaches millions of people around the world each year.
But 6 October is not yet formally recognised by the United Nations.

Formal UN recognition would help turn an established global movement into an enduring international platform for attention and action.

Explore the changes people want to see

Katy is sharing the change she wants to see for people with cerebral palsy — more care and curiosity in our everyday lives.

For Katy, that means checking in on friends, asking more thoughtful questions and taking the time to better understand the experiences of people with cerebral palsy.

It also means healthcare workers approaching every interaction with curiosity, and local leaders and policymakers listening to and learning from the people in their communities.

Because there are 50 million people with cerebral palsy around the world, and 50 million different experiences, priorities and ideas about what needs to change.

What change do you want to see?

Meet Agnes. 💚

This World Cerebral Palsy Day, Agnes is sharing the change she wants to see for people with cerebral palsy: lifelong access to physiotherapy and accessible exercise.

Because cerebral palsy is lifelong, access to the right support should be too.

There are 50 million people with cerebral palsy around the world — and 50 million different experiences, priorities and ideas about what needs to change.

What’s your change?

Share it using #UniqueANDUnited and tag a local leader, business or community organisation who can help make it happen.

For children with cerebral palsy, access to the right support can make a real difference.

Yet globally, children with cerebral palsy still face inequitable access to basic services, including rehabilitation, education, and inclusion — despite clear evidence that these services improve outcomes.

Access to the right support shouldn’t depend on where a child lives, and this needs to change.

This World Cerebral Palsy Day, we want to know: what change do you want to see for people with cerebral palsy?

Share your change and tag a local leader, business, or community organisation who can help make it happen.
